New Product Introduction Engineer

Camellia is a company seeking a New Product Introduction Engineer to lead new wiring harness programs from customer design through stable production. This hands-on role involves collaborating with various teams to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met while translating customer specifications into scalable manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Review customer drawings, 3D models, and specifications to assess manufacturability, identify risks, and align designs with internal capabilities
Lead first article builds and First Article Inspection (FAI) activities in collaboration with Quality and senior engineering resources
Coordinate customer FAI reviews and approvals, addressing technical questions and ensuring all requirements are met prior to production release
Develop and maintain detailed process plans, routings, work instructions, and inspection requirements
Define and manage MBOMs (Manufacturing Bills of Materials), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and material availability for builds
Define, coordinate, and validate tooling, fixtures, gauges, and inspection aids with internal teams and suppliers
Support equipment setup, validation, upgrades, and maintenance as required for new product launches
Work closely with Applications, Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure successful product launches
Maintain NPI schedules, milestones, and deliverables across functions, communicating risks early and clearly
Ensure all documentation is reviewed, approved, and released prior to production
Analyze prototype and pilot build results to improve quality, cost, cycle time, and manufacturability
Support lean and continuous improvement efforts tied to new product introductions
Document and update SOPs, work instructions, and test plans as processes mature

Required

Bachelor's degree in a core engineering discipline (BSEE or BSME preferred) or equivalent relevant experience
1–3 years of experience in an NPI or manufacturing engineering role within a build-to-print manufacturing environment
Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances
Hands-on experience with NPI activities including FAI, pilot builds, and production ramp-ups
Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, BOM management, and supply chain coordination
Experience using ERP/MRP systems
Strong communication skills with the ability to drive accountability across teams
