Consultant, API Business Solutions Owner

Responsibilities

Define API-enabled business capabilities that align with organizational goals and ensure high-quality customer service
Partner with Technology to ensure technical solutions meet business objectives and deliver ROI
Translate business needs into actionable requirements for business and/or technology teams
Lead and contribute to User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for internal and external API builds
Triage and resolve support calls from internal and external stakeholders
Manage rate updates and deployments in collaboration with key stakeholders
Partner with the Rate Utility Build team to resolve defects and implement enhancements
Collaborate with technology on deployment schedules and defect resolution to minimize business disruption
Serve as a strategic liaison between agency partners, internal and external technology teams
Facilitate meetings, lead discussions, and ensure clear, consistent communication across stakeholders
Build strong relationships with agency partners to understand workflows and integration goals
Advocate for customer/agency partner needs and contribute to platform strategy
Maintain a comprehensive product backlog encompassing new builds, enhancements, and technical work
Collaborate with stakeholders to align backlog with strategic vision and roadmap
Provide input to development teams to ensure business needs are accurately captured
Participate in meetings, including stand-ups, planning, retrospectives, and demonstrations

Required

Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information, business, mathematics or related field preferred
3+ years of direct experience managing API integrations, preferably within the insurance industry
8+ years leading business initiatives involving technology advances and/or business process changes from planning through implementation
Skilled in technical writing, including API documentation and specifications
Understanding of API ecosystems, architecture, and performance optimization
Proficient with technical tools such as Postman, Excel, JIRA, Smartsheet, etc
Strong grasp of system development life cycle, data modeling, application integration, and data management
Expertise in insurance practices and customer-centric design principles with technology solutions
Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-relevant language for diverse audiences
Proven success in aligning technology solutions with strategic business outcomes
Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills across leadership levels
Experienced in cross-functional collaboration and navigating organizational change
Strong ability to influence decisions, drive consensus, and manage ambiguity
Skilled in engaging external partners and internal business units
Expertise in business process analysis and organizational change management
Ability to assess impact, coordinate training and communication, and ensure readiness
Systems-thinking approach with strong decision-making capabilities
Skilled in root cause analysis and driving innovative solutions
Experience with KPI tracking and performance measurement for business outcomes
