Summer Land Stewardship Intern

Chatham Conservation Foundation, Inc. (CCF) is a nonprofit organization focused on preserving open space in Chatham. They are seeking a Summer Land Stewardship Intern to gain experience in land management and conservation through fieldwork and office tasks, working approximately 24 hours a week over 14 weeks.

Responsibilities

Maintaining trails to accommodate public access/use (mowing, weed whacking, etc.)
Restoring plant and wildlife habitat; managing invasive plant species
Participating in volunteer workdays (1-2x/week)
Sampling water quality at Frost Fish Creek
Assisting in monitoring conservation land
Helping to implement outreach activities and events

Required

Physically capable of performing land management activities. This includes the ability to work outdoors, walking across steep and uneven terrain, in variable weather conditions, with a risk of exposure to ticks and poison ivy, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid driver's license
Ability to safely operate power equipment (i.e., weed whacker, brush mower)
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong interpersonal skills; flexibility; self-motivation
Experience with the Microsoft Office suite

Preferred

Experience in landscaping, horticulture, or conservation stewardship a plus
