Responsibilities

Lead welding and brazing process development, qualification, and continuous improvement for aerospace hardware
Create and maintain process specifications, procedures, and work instructions; ensure compliance to applicable standards (e.g., AWS, ASME, NADCAP)
Plan and execute PQR/WPQ, brazing procedure qualifications, and special process audits; support NADCAP readiness and corrective actions
Analyze non-conformances; lead root cause and corrective action (5-Why, Fishbone, PFMEA) to prevent recurrence
Partner with design engineering on DFM/DFA for welded/brazed assemblies; define critical characteristics and acceptance criteria
Develop and optimize parameters for GTAW/TIG, MIG/GMAW, resistance spot, laser welding, vacuum/inert-atmosphere brazing, and related processes
Select and qualify filler metals, fluxes, fixtures, and consumables; manage heat-treat and post-weld processes (PWHT, stress relief)
Implement statistical process control and capability studies; maintain process health dashboards and metrics
Support supplier development and on-site technical reviews; resolve supplier quality issues and drive standard work
Ensure rigorous adherence to EHS policies and special process controls to protect people, product, and compliance

Required

Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials/Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering (or high school diploma/GED and 7 years of welding and/or brazing experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, defense, energy, or automotive))
Minimum 3 years of hands-on welding and/or brazing experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (aerospace, defense, energy, or automotive)

Preferred

Proficiency with at least two of: GTAW/TIG,  laser welding, resistance welding, vacuum/inert brazing, induction brazing
Demonstrated experience with procedure development, qualification records, and operator qualifications
Working knowledge of AWS D17.1/D17.2, and NADCAP special process requirements
Experience with metallography, NDT (PT/MT/RT/UT/ET), and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
Data-driven problem solving using SPC, process capability
Strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration
Aerospace materials experience (nickel superalloys, titanium, stainless steels, aluminum) and high-temperature brazing alloys
Hands-on fixture design, thermal cycle development, and vacuum furnace operation
Prior supplier development and NADCAP audit preparation experience
Certifications: CWI/CWE, AWS D17.1 endorsement, or equivalent
