Responsibilities
Lead the payroll function across 30+ states, ensuring accurate, timely, and fully compliant processing while setting a steady, solutions‑oriented tone for the team
Serve as the senior payroll authority, handling escalations and partnering with Finance leadership on strategy, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement
Oversee all payroll compliance activities, including multi‑jurisdictional tax requirements, year‑end filings, regulatory monitoring, and audit‑ready internal controls
Manage and mentor payroll leaders, fostering collaboration, developing future leadership capability, and supporting both non‑union and union payroll expertise
Drive payroll projects and process improvements, modernizing systems, eliminating inefficiencies, and implementing scalable, compliant solutions
Collaborate cross‑functionally with HR, IT, Finance, and external vendors to ensure seamless, integrated payroll operations
Qualification
Required
Prior experience in a Payroll Director, Senior Payroll Manager, or similar leadership role
10+ years of payroll experience with strong expertise in multi‑state payroll and payroll tax compliance
Experience with union payroll environments
Must be willing to work onsite
