Street Light Technician

Responsibilities
Follow all safety policies and procedures set forth by company safety manual
Operate an aerial lift (bucket truck) and climb wooden poles to perform installation and maintenance activities of various types of lighting
Troubleshoot and identify electrical connections and lighting fixtures to determine the appropriate course of repair
Work on energized secondary voltage circuits up to 480 volts. Must be able to test for voltage, make connections, and isolate conductors
Work in close proximity to energized medium-voltage primary lines and equipment. Must know how to identify various voltage classes and devices
Operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) as a representative of the company. Must maintain the company's vehicle in a clean and orderly state and keep the truck stocked for the various types of repairs required of this position
Utilize a truck-based laptop to receive work orders, read and interpret maps, fill in relevant work order and customer information, and close work orders
Operate transformer disconnect fuses with a hot stick
Identify, differentiate and use various sizes and classifications of material, conductors, lights and connectors required to make secondary and lighting connections
Conduct inspections of equipment, document and initiate repairs or testing needs in a timely manner
Use all hot line tools and personal protective equipment in accordance with safety procedures
Organize equipment, tools, material, paperwork, and safety equipment, as necessary to accomplish task
Possess own basic hand tools and climbing tools
Must be able to read and understand technical information, manuals, policies, procedures, work orders, blueprints, spec books, system maps and diagrams
Must be able to deal with emergency situations, hazardous conditions, multiple priorities, frequent interruptions, and time constraints
Must be able to understand and use the English language, both oral and written, to communicate information, instructions, and ideas to other personnel
Must be able to properly fill out documents and lead Job Hazard Analysis pre-job and post job meetings
Must be able to utilize a computer to accept work orders, close work orders, view maps, and send/receive emails
Must possess time management skills in order to arrive at work order locations before or on time for scheduled appointments
Must be dependable, trustworthy and self-driven
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or Equivalent (GED)
Must possess a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with acceptable driving record

Completion of an apprentice lineman program or lineman technical training
Experience performing electrical work
