Supervisory Instructional Systems Specialist

Responsibilities

Supervise the National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) Instructional Systems Specialists team, overseeing project progress and quality of materials, and directing unit staff
Oversee the development and evaluation of wildland fire training courses and related products in support of national interagency wildland fire management objectives to improve performance
Serve as an advisor and consultant to NWCG committees and subcommittees, fire managers, training administrators, and other stakeholders
Provide expertise on instructional design for the development and maintenance of a sustainable and integrated NWCG performance-based learning system
Identify data elements necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of training development, delivery, and impact on job performance
Develop methods of collecting and analyzing training data to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects of the training system

Required

Degree that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled
Course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: 1) Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology; 2) Instructional design practices; 3) Educational evaluation; 4) Instructional product development; 5) Computers in education and training
You will need to clearly state your undergraduate/graduate degree(s) and submit your college transcripts or a listing of your college courses that includes hours and grades
Expert knowledge of the principles, methods, practices, and techniques of instructional systems design (ISD) for adult education
Extensive application of learning theory and the principles, methods, practices and techniques using a systems approach to ensure proper organization and delivery of course content
Design and develop assessment strategies, tools, and instruments which measure and assess the level of skill, knowledge, abilities, and job competencies in specific program disciplines
Knowledge and skill of systems technology procedures to analyze user requirements, develop strategies to meet program objectives, create training solutions
Knowledge and skill in curriculum development, production, and management; interpreting and applying current and emerging e-learning technologies
Develop guidelines, instructional methods, course materials, training/job aids, and new or modified applications of educational technology for use in the NWCG training system
U.S. Citizenship is required
You cannot hold an active real estate license: nor can you have an interest or hold stocks in firms with interest in Federal Lands

Appointment will be subject to a favorably adjudicated background/suitability investigation/determination

Supervisory Probationary Period: If you are selected for this position, you will be required to serve a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period if one has not previously been completed

There is no substitution of education for specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level
