Responsibilities
Reviewing, analyzing, and prioritizing payroll tax notices
Navigating multiple state, county, and municipal tax portals
Reconciling discrepancies between internal systems, ADP Master Tax, ADP Smart Compliance, and agency records
Documenting findings and progress using Excel tracking tools
Prioritizing issues based on penalties, dollar exposure, liens, and risk
Driving urgent issue resolution to eliminate long-standing tax liabilities
Qualification
Required
State & Local Payroll Tax Expertise
Hands-on experience with state, city, county, school district, and local jurisdictional payroll tax issues
Resolving payroll tax notices end-to-end
Using and navigating a variety of tax agency portals
Understanding how payroll setup (job codes, worksite mapping, locations) impacts tax outcomes
Ability to focus on the highest-dollar and highest-risk issues first
Understanding financial/compliance impact of unresolved local taxes
Strong decision-making discipline in a fast-moving environment
High comfort level using Excel for tracking, reconciliation, and documentation
Able to work fully digitally — no paper workflows
Able to analyze mismatches between systems and agency data
Thrives in a high-volume, multi-jurisdiction environment
Completes work with limited follow-up
Maintains strong momentum in a fast-paced project with tight timelines
Works independently after brief onboarding
Knows when to research and when to escalate
Fully owns assigned tasks from start to finish
Preferred
Experience with ADP Master Tax & ADP Smart Compliance
