The NYS Department of Environmental Conservation is seeking an Environmental Engineering Technician 1 to assist with the enforcement of the Plastic Bag Ban Law in New York City. The role involves inspecting stores, issuing warnings, and participating in educational outreach efforts, as well as supporting regional office operations.

Responsibilities
Assist with the enforcement of the Plastic Bag Ban Law by inspecting stores and issuing warnings and/or violations in the five boroughs of New York City
Spend a large portion of their work hours out of the office
Assist with the Mercury in Cosmetics and Personal Care Products ban
Help with various regional educational outreach efforts
Assist with normal regional office operations including the scanning/digitizing of technical records
Qualification
Required
Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or as a surveyor or a drafter
Graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience
Graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry
18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying
Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position
Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions
