Senior Consultant – Regulatory & Depreciation
Addison Group has partnered with a nationally recognized consulting firm serving the energy and utilities sector to identify a Senior Consultant with deep expertise in depreciation and utility regulatory matters. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex engagements, guide junior staff, interface directly with clients, and contribute to business development efforts within a growing practice.

Responsibilities
Serve as a subject matter expert for utility accounting, depreciation, cost-of-service, and ratemaking issues, drawing on relevant FERC precedents
Lead and contribute to consulting teams assessing regulatory, accounting, and depreciation matters tied to rate cases and cost-of-service studies
Prepare expert testimony independently in support of regulatory proceedings, disputes, and litigation for public power, consumer-owned utilities, large industrial clients, and state commissions
Translate complex depreciation and ratemaking concepts into clear and actionable guidance for clients
Conduct independent regulatory, accounting, and depreciation research to support positions and develop departmental knowledge
Oversee large, complex consulting engagements, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and budgets are met
Mentor, train, and evaluate junior team members
Support proposal development, marketing initiatives, and client engagement activities
Attend industry conferences and represent the practice externally
Review draft invoices and support financial oversight of projects
Collaborate cross-functionally with other service lines to enhance project outcomes and identify additional opportunities
Provide ongoing thought leadership to the Rates & Regulatory Department
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, or related field with utility industry experience
8+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated supervisory responsibilities
Strong knowledge of FERC regulations, the Uniform System of Accounts, and utility ratemaking principles
Experience with electric utilities required
Prior experience preparing or assisting with testimony or technical writing for regulatory matters
Background in audits, investigations, or reviews tied to utility cost-of-service or compliance
Exceptional communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Able to travel domestically (5–10%)
Preferred
CPA preferred but not required
Exposure to natural gas utilities, cooperatives, and municipals is a plus
