Assistant Director of Human Resources
The County of San Joaquin, California, is seeking an experienced and collaborative Assistant Human Resources Director to support the leadership and administration of its centralized Human Resources Department. Responsibilities
Support the leadership and administration of its centralized Human Resources Department during a period of transition and modernization
Support the delivery of responsive HR services
Strengthen relationships with county departments
Advance strategic initiatives that promote organizational effectiveness
Lead approximately 34 staff through 6 subordinate managers and supervisors
Contribute to countywide priorities, including workforce development, policy modernization, and a multi-year ERP implementation
Help guide a strong and evolving HR team
Drive meaningful change during a pivotal time of organizational transformation
Qualification
Required
Experience in public-sector human resources, particularly within civil service environments
Ability to build trust and communicate effectively
Skill in navigating complex issues
Leadership capabilities with professionalism, accountability, and emotional intelligence
Experience in supporting the delivery of responsive HR services
Ability to strengthen relationships with county departments
Experience in advancing strategic initiatives that promote organizational effectiveness
Experience in leading teams, including managing subordinate managers and supervisors
