Manager - Financial Reporting
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is North America's largest transportation network, serving a population of 15.3 million people. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and providing quality data for decision-making, including preparing financial reports and supporting the internal and external audit process.

Responsibilities
Support the preparation of the monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reports and consolidated financial statements, including the Management and Discussion Analysis, footnotes and fluctuation analysis, as required
Prepare monthly MTA and quarterly consolidated cash flow statements for inclusion in quarterly consolidated financial statements
Manage and prepare inter-agency reconciliations and ascertain that variances are researched and corrected through contact with other Agencies
Support the general ledger close by analyzing and preparing journal entries and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy and timely submission of data to meet the deadlines for the issuance of quarterly financial statements
Review account trends, perform account analysis, and reconciliation
Explain variances and reconciling items, and coordinate the discussion and resolution of any discrepancies
Assist in the continuous review of internal controls to ensure policies and procedures are applied, and significant risks are mitigated
Support the internal and external audit process by resolving questions and providing requested schedules
Other duties as assigned include the implementation of new accounting standards and new reporting requirements
Qualification
Required
Must have knowledge of automated financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft)
Must have knowledge of monthly general ledger closing and financial reporting
Strong communication and writing skills
Strong work ethic and dedication to the highest work quality and job excellence
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Must have excellent analytical and quantitative skills
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Strong understanding of financial reports and audit requirements
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Must have strong interpersonal skills and commitment to teamwork
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of experience in Accounting, Audit, or Finance
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial systems
Preferred
Certified Public Accountant preferred
At least 3 years in a managerial and/or leadership role
Prior experience working in a large, multi-faceted, fast-paced organization or governmental body
Knowledge of FASB and/or GASB pronouncements and their impact on the accounting methodology and financial statement presentation
