Staff Engineer
Cuono Engineering, PLLC is a NY-based Structural Engineering firm currently hiring for a Staff Engineer. The role involves working on components of various projects under the direction of a Project Engineer, including responsibilities such as structural analysis, design, and client communication.
Responsibilities
Preparing design criteria and calculations for projects using material and state codes
Participating in internal design meetings
Performing structural analysis and design of various components of a project’s gravity and lateral system using office software and hand calculations
Communicating with clients and other consultants to coordinate a project’s structural design work
Visiting sites to assist in documenting and measuring existing framing conditions
Participating in field and office investigations for special structural projects such as condition assessments or feasibility studies
Technical writing on investigative findings and recommendations for project reports
Drafting of framing plans, sections, and details using AutoCAD LT and/or Revit
Researching the pertinent building codes of a project
Participating in site visits during construction to observe the progress of on-going work and prepare written reports of field observations
Researching materials and construction methods for new projects, and conducting archival research on existing buildings
Contributing to social media and marketing efforts
Effectively navigating the various building codes and reference standards of a project
Establishing project design criteria and preparing calculations in accordance with state codes
Assisting Project Engineer or other senior staff with analysis or design computations
Being proficient in at least one analysis program
Performing site surveys and structural assessments; measure, photograph & document existing conditions
Participating in field and office investigations for special structural projects such as condition assessments or feasibility studies
Technical writing on investigative findings and recommendations for project reports
Performing structural analysis and design for the gravity and lateral systems of buildings using office software and hand calculations
Preparing project specifications
Attending design/coordination meetings along with senior staff and taking meeting minutes
Collaborating on design solutions with supervisor(s)
Assigning tasks to and coordinating with staff engineers, production, or administrative staff
Setting time management expectations for tasks given to staff engineers
Assisting in filling out NYC DOB forms
Interacting with clients and contractors during the Construction Administration phase
Reviewing shop drawings, submittals and responding to RFI’s in a timely manner
Drafting of framing plans, sections, and details using AutoCAD LT and/or Revit
Participating in site visits during construction to observe the progress of on-going work and prepares written reports with photographs of field observations
Working both independently and in a team-oriented environment
Contributing to social media and marketing efforts
Qualification
Required
Year of Professional Design Experience: 0-5
Educational and Professional Credentials: B.S. in Civil Engineering, preferably with a focus in structural engineering, E.I.T. preferably working towards P.E. license, OSHA 30-Hour Training
