Epic Billing Analyst
Responsibilities
Configure and maintain Epic's Resolute Professional Billing or Hospital Billing module to manage charges, benefit engines, claims, and payment processors
Analyze workflows, data collection, and report details to identify areas for improvement and implement application solutions
Act as a primary support contact for end-users, resolving application issues and providing technical assistance
Lead or participate in the implementation of new systems or features, support system upgrades, and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ICD-10)
Liaise between the IT department, billing office, finance, and other stakeholders to tailor systems to meet organizational needs
Design, build, test, and document system changes and workflows
Develop and generate reports to extract and analyze healthcare data
Collaborate with trainers on application changes and new features to develop training materials and strategies
Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for a 24/7 production environment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field is typically required
An Associate's degree with equivalent work experience may also be considered
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in supporting healthcare information systems, particularly in a hospital billing environment, is often preferred or required
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) and project management tools is expected
Deep knowledge of Epic's Resolute Professional Billing or Hospital Billing modules, including charge router, work queue configuration, collection agency workflows, statement processing, and claims processing operations
Ability to analyze complex issues, troubleshoot problems, identify root causes, and develop effective solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders, including IT teams, clinicians, billing staff, and vendors
Ability to lead meetings, prioritize tasks, resolve conflicts, maintain issue lists, and manage project plans
Meticulous approach to documentation, system configuration, and data integrity
Strong understanding of revenue cycle processes, clinical workflows, and healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA)
Preferred
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in supporting healthcare information systems, particularly in a hospital billing environment, is often preferred or required
Experience with Epic or similar healthcare applications is beneficial
Epic certification in relevant modules, such as Resolute Hospital Billing (HB) or Professional Billing (PB), is highly preferred and may be required by some employers, according to ZipRecruiter
Obtaining certification within a certain timeframe (e.g., six months of employment) may also be a requirement
