Responsibilities

Designing and conducting experiments to study microbial communities using microfluidic platforms
Developing and optimizing microfluidic devices for high-throughput microbiome analysis
Analyzing complex datasets derived from microbiome studies and microfluidic experiments
Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, including microbiologists, engineers, and computational biologists
Publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences
Mentoring and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in related projects
Contributing to the preparation of grant proposals and progress reports
Performs related duties as assigned

Required

A MS in Chemical Engineering (AI focus), Computational Science, Microbiology, or Bioengineering, and related field
Extensive experience in microbiome research, including DNA sequencing, metagenomics, and bioinformatics
Proficiency in designing microencapsulation and fabricating microfluidic devices
Strong background in experimental design and data analysis
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven track record of publishing in high-impact scientific journals
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
Successful Background Check

Preferred

Experience with single-cell analysis and microbial culturing techniques
Familiarity with Machine-Learning and computational tools and programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB
Knowledge of systems biology and integrative approaches to studying microbial communities
Experience in mentoring and teaching
