Responsibilities
Supervises, assigns, reviews, and participates in the work of staff responsible for assigned accounting and financial information services
Ensures work quality and adherence to generally accepted accounting principles and procedures (GAAP) for governmental Financial Reporting
Performs the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility, which may include preparing and/or auditing governmental GAAP financial statements
Responsible for a large number of tasks involved with the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
Takes on more Financial Reporting work, requiring the supervision of one Senior and two Accountants in the Financial reporting section
Maintains significant contact with the Financial Reporting consultant and Auditors as well as working directly with the Division Manager and Finance Manager in Accounts & Audits
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited university OR a bachelor's degree in a related discipline with a concentration in accounting (must have successfully completed six accounting classes at an accredited university in principles of accounting, intermediate accounting, or related accounting disciplines such as auditing or tax)
Five years of experience in accounting or financial analysis
Two years of experience as a Senior Accountant with the City of Cincinnati (for promotional applicants)
Certification as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is required by some City departments (for promotional applicants)
Valid Driver's License may be required in some positions
Excellent communicator and team builder
Experience in preparing and/or auditing governmental GAAP financial statements (for positions in the Accounts and Audits Financial Reporting Division)
Preferred
Master's degree in Accounting
Certification as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
