Highway Technician Assistant I
The Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking a Highway Technician Assistant I to join their Traffic Engineering & Permits Section. This role involves operating equipment, performing roadway maintenance, and ensuring safety during maintenance operations.

Responsibilities
Operating equipment: Learn to operate a small single axle dump truck to haul materials and assist with snow removal efforts; learn to operate a tractor with mowing machine
Brush cutting and tree maintenance: Perform brush cutting operations using chain saws, bush axes, or chemical treatments to ensure clear visibility and safety on roadways
Traffic control: Flag traffic for maintenance crews during operations to guarantee the safety of team members and the traveling public
Roadway repair: Shovel blacktop and perform other roadway maintenance related activities as required
Equipment maintenance: Assist with performing minor repairs and maintenance on equipment
Qualification
Required
High school graduate
Must be 18 years of age
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification
Within 12 months of employment in this job classification, employees must furnish the agency's appointing authority with documentation that he or she holds a valid Class B commercial driver's license
Within one year of employment in this job classification, the employee must complete First Aid and Snow and Ice Training
Must possess Traffic Control/Flagger and OSHA 10 Certifications or equivalent
Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification
Preferred
