Deputy Director of Logistics, Engineering, & Force Protection
USAJOBS is seeking a Deputy Director of Logistics, Engineering, and Force Protection for the Department of the Air Force. Responsibilities
Conducts interdependent assessment of selected programs or functions of the command to recommend better, more efficient business practices, and provides dynamic leadership in the development of corporate strategic plans
Maintains cognizance of new policies and directives issued by higher levels in the Department of Defense and Headquarters Air Force and by other agencies of the Federal government
Coordinates initiatives at the executive level and interfaces with state and local governments, private industry and professional organizations, and assists the Director in the definition and improvement of functional interfaces within the Directorate, other commands, DOD agencies and contract partners
Formulates plans for the Director to implement new policies for the management of Directorate logistics functional activities
Directs and controls the allocation of commands resources to implement logistics concepts, objectives, policies, plans and programs
Makes key decisions concerning utilization of resources allocated for accomplishment of the mission
Qualification
Required
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
U.S. citizenship is required
Males must be registered for Selective Service
Mobility is a condition of employment and appointment for SES members will be required to sign a Reassignment Rights and Obligations Agreement
Selected candidate must file an Executive Personnel Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 278) in accordance with the Ethics in Government Act of 1978
Position has been designated Critical-Sensitive and the selectee must have or be able to obtain a Top-Secret clearance
The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use IAW Exec. Order 12564, dated 14 Sep 86
Position requires that the incumbent sign a Drug Testing letter and pass urinalysis testing prior to appointment
Position requires travel under conditions specified in the DoD Joint Travel Regulations
Position may require incumbent to be available for other than normal duty hours to include weekends to support exercises and crisis planning
An initial SES career appointment becomes final only after the individual successfully completes a 1-year probationary period
Position may be subject to the post-government employment restrictions of Sections 207(a) and (f) of Title 18, United States Code
Attendance to the Air Force's Senior Leader Orientation Course (SLOC) is generally required within 12 months of appointment, subject to course availability
Demonstrate strategic level experience leading large organizations with multi-functional disciplines, to include superior knowledge and operational experience in aircraft maintenance, munitions, and logistics with familiarity in civil engineering and force protection
Proven senior level experience in reviewing strategic and operational plans, and submissions to develop justifications, business cases, and advocacy within and across organizations to acquire the resources needed to effectively meet organizational requirements
Demonstrated knowledge of the American system of government, commitment to uphold the Constitution and the rule of law, and commitment to serve the American people
Demonstrated ability to strategically and efficiently manage resources, budget effectively, cut wasteful spending, and pursue efficiency through process and technological upgrades
Demonstrated knowledge, ability, and technical competence to effectively and reliably produce work that is of exceptional quality
Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a group toward meeting the organization's vision, mission, and goals, and to drive a high-performance, high-accountability culture
Demonstrated ability to achieve both individual and organizational results, and to align results to stated goals from superiors
Preferred
A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, in an appropriate engineering or technical field, is highly desired
A master's or advanced degree in an appropriate technical field or management is highly desired
