Responsibilities

Management of Safety and Industrial Hygiene operations in area of responsibility
Responsible for overseeing section budget, goals and performance
Participates in the development and implementation of company Environmental, Health & Safety policies and standards
Works on related projects and/or assignments as needed
Reviews employee safety programs and conducts/coordinates worker training in areas relating to safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition recognition/monitoring, and use of safety equipment
Works with project teams and clients to develop site specific orientations and EHS programs
Prepares project specific environmental, health, and safety procedures
Develops, manages and monitors standards, processes, communications, and training to help ensure a safe workplace limiting risk to employee health and welfare
Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to help ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations
Performs leadership role in incident investigations and Workmen Compensation case management
Investigates accidents in attempt to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future
Helps prepare, and obtains and retains emergency response plans and procedures
Provides new-employee health and safety orientations, and conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment for existing employees as required
Inspects and evaluates workplace environments, equipment and construction practices to help ensure compliance with LeChase safety standards and government regulations
Ensures all required safety information as required by the local, state and federal agencies are posted on all projects in area of responsibility
Takes a leadership role in industry organizations or client programs as directed by LeChase management
Monitors the effectiveness of site EH&S programs and recommends corrective actions when necessary by identifying deficiencies or areas needing loss control, risk analysis or compliance attention
Provides reports to operations manager on the status of the Safety Program elements including leading edge metrics and the status of corrective action items
Participates in Management Site Visit Program conducting site safety audit and assisting with improvements
Communicates audit/inspection results to management and ensures that follow-up inspections are performed to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and regulations
Analyze accident trends, and contractor performance to recommend effective corrective action techniques
Identify and minimize hazards and unsafe trends before they become accidents
Investigate and document accidents identifying root cause and methods of prevention
Lead the effort in developing preconstruction safety planning
Review the contractor's administrative safety procedures and coordinating with OSHA and other regulatory agencies
Manage project safety documents
Publish any customer requested project safety reports

Required

High school diploma required
Minimum 5 years construction safety experience
Minimum of OSHA 30 training is required
Strong knowledge of safety policies and procedures
English usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and punctuation
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
OSHA & DOL Regulations
Ability to conduct training with both large and small groups
Ability to identify and address safety hazards
Ability to improve safety practices
Positive attitude, professional appearance and ability to work as a team member, communicate with others and share responsibility to work towards common goals
Exhibit proactive work habits and desire to succeed
Work well within a project team
Travel to projects to provide safety support as needed

Preferred

Associates/Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Certification in industrial hygiene is desirable, but not required
OSHA 500 hour Certified Safety Professional & CHST preferred
