0+ years expCity of Angleton is seeking a Utility Billing Clerk-Lead who is responsible for processing utility payments, maintaining customer accounts, and providing exceptional service regarding utility billing inquiries. This role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities
Process water bills, including payment collection and account adjustments, promptly and accurately through various payment methods
Maintain and update customer accounts, including setting up new accounts and processing service disconnections
Respond to customer inquiries about billing issues, payment arrangements, and account statuses via phone, email, or in person
Generate and distribute monthly utility bills and delinquency notices
Reconcile daily payments and prepare bank deposits
Assist in preparing billing, collections, and account balance reports
Work closely with field staff to ensure service orders are processed and completed accurately
Research and resolve billing discrepancies and escalate issues as needed
Ensure compliance with city policies and utility regulations
Perform other related duties as assigned
Answers the multi-line phone system; directs calls to the appropriate department
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or a General Educational Diploma (GED) certificate required
Must be able to use a 10-key calculator, multi-line phone system, and personal computer
Strong mathematical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to handle customer inquiries with professionalism and patience
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Five (5) to six (6) months of related experience preferred
Previous experience in utility billing, customer service, or accounting preferred
Experience in municipal or government utility operations is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word
Familiarity with utility billing software or accounting systems preferred
