RESEARCH COORDINATOR AND HEALTH COUNSELOR
Arizona State University is searching for a Clinical Research Coordinator to join Dr. Stephanie Marita Carpenter's research team. The role involves assisting in a research project focused on tobacco and nicotine dependence among African American/Black adults, coordinating research activities, and providing tobacco cessation counseling.

Responsibilities
Schedules logistics, determines workflows, and secures resources for a defined clinical research trial
Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility and enrolls trial participants, collects information, and answers questions under supervision of a medically licensed professional. May perform basic medical assessments after completion of required training/certification, such as collecting vital signs, obtaining weight, and performing phlebotomy
Manages research workflow components, collects, prepares, processes, and submits participant data and samples to appropriate entities, adhering to research protocols
Identifies work unit resources needs and manages supply and equipment inventory levels
Serves as an initial point of contact for clinical research participants and clinical staff, providing information regarding research procedures, expectations, and informational inquiries
Performs quality checks
Provide individual and group tobacco cessation counseling
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma and two-years (2) experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved
Description of their experience working with African American/Black communities and/or working knowledge of African American/Black culture
Preferred
Experience working in African American/Black communities
Working knowledge of African American/Black culture
Demonstrated ability to learn new technology including virtual meeting/learning apps like Teams, Zoom, etc
Strong active listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals
Experience with patient or customer interaction
Demonstrated understanding of tobacco/nicotine addiction through personal experience, professional engagement, or close association with affected individuals
Ability to follow detailed procedures
Strong organizational and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
