Responsibilities
Inspect new subdivision construction and Town construction work for developing and improving roads, bridges, drainage structures, and traffic control devices
Conduct required testing of water and sewer lines
Inspect line and grade of sewer and storm pipes
Inspect the Town’s Capital Improvement Projects for compliance to contract documents
Review pay requests, shop drawings, construction schedules and attend all meetings associated with the project
Inspect streets for proper compliance with plans and specifications, i.e. materials, grade, compaction tests, etc
Check curbs and gutters for proper drainage and defects
Perform tests on materials for quality, strength, compaction, and other related criteria
Make written and verbal reports on inspections to supervisor and complete daily inspection reports
Advise contractors on Town construction standards and specifications
Perform other related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Associate's Degree with major course work in heavy construction, civil engineering, construction inspection, construction management or a related field
Supplemented by five (5) years' experience and/or training as a Construction Inspector, Foreman, or a Superintendent; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
Requires a valid motor vehicle operator's license
