Business Development Coordinator or Specialist

Honigman LLP is a premier business law firm based in Michigan, seeking a Business Development Coordinator or Specialist to support their Corporate, IP, and Litigation departments. The role involves providing administrative support, managing projects, and assisting in business development initiatives across various practice groups.

Law Practice

Responsibilities

Overall BD team project management
Organize and maintain electronic files using the firm’s document management system, review documents for sufficiency, obtain necessary signatures, route appropriately, and file correspondence and other records
Prepare outgoing mail and correspondence
Coordinate and arrange meetings, prepare agendas, and reserve and prepare facilities, as needed
May be assigned to a specific function or a regular and recurring nature, such as maintaining certain reports, logs, or distributing information to various firm members
Prepare expense reports for processing and payment
Provide back-up coverage for the Detroit office receptionist
Draft client-specific presentations, trainings and other client-facing materials
Support all aspects of the submissions process for directories (Chambers and other related submissions) as well as league table rankings, directories, submissions, and rankings
Support any research or competitive intelligence requests related to pitch opportunities
Track completed matter/deal details and manage scorecards as well as related client pitch repository
Assist in managing multiple competing priorities and projects while establishing solid working relationships with Practice Group Leaders and Partners across the assign departments
Attend and support Practice Group and Department meetings and initiatives
Support business development plans on an individual partner basis as well as overall practice or department plans
Track and provide metrics and analytics related to the assign departments’ business development activity to Department Chair and Practice Group Leaders. Also, support any needed budgetary tracking or analysis
Pitch support for cross-practice and overflow pitches when necessary
Maintain experience database of significant matters
Work with Business Development Managers and attorneys to develop ideas, to draft and edit communications to clients and targets (e.g. newsletters, alerts, event invitations, brochures, articles) and help guide the production of these materials
Assist with Business Development Department special projects and additional duties as assigned
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with other Honigman Departments including IS, Finance, Human Resources and Attorney Development and Recruitment and appropriate external resources, particularly the public relations firm
Provide support on larger team initiatives, including high-level firm presentations
Provide support across strategic industry sectors to help advance the firm’s strategic plan
Support cross-selling efforts across strategic plans (track, analyze)
Manage and update relevant industry databases

Required

Bachelor's degree in communication and/or marketing (or related discipline)
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills. Must be persuasive and demonstrate active listening skills
Must have a strong client service orientation
Demonstrated project management experience
Ability to work well with multiple deadlines, innovative problem solving and prioritization skills
Must be a problem solver, willing to work and think energetically and independently and to accept responsibility for producing work that is consistently complete, timely, effective and error-free
Ability to work effectively in a team environment, as well as independently
Strong attention to detail, dedication to client service, and ability to work in a deadline-intensive environment
Excellent organizational and time/project management skills
Must demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to new ideas and to new approaches
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate level of discretion
Strong computer skills, with demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as familiarity or ability to quickly and effectively learn department-specific applications (e.g., VUTURE)
Must have strong overall technology skills and demonstrate a willingness to learn new applications as they become commercially available

Preferred

Prior experience in a marketing or business development function at a law firm or professional services firm preferred
Experience with marketing information systems and use of technology driven communication experience
Social media experience is highly desirable
