Direct Counsel is seeking a Data Strategy, Security & Privacy Associate Attorney to join a leading national law firm with a highly regarded litigation and cybersecurity practice. This role involves working on sophisticated cybercrime, data security, and privacy matters as part of a collaborative, fast-growing team.

Required

Admission to the Washington, D.C. Bar
2–4 years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or government setting
Experience in cybersecurity law, government investigations, and crisis management
Strong academic credentials

Preferred

Large law firm or government experience preferred
Background or significant experience in computer science, information technology, and/or engineering
Knowledge and experience with cybersecurity laws and industry standards, including: Computer Fraud and Abuse Act (CFAA), CMMC 2.0, SEC Cybersecurity Disclosure Rule, Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act (CIRCIA), GLBA Safeguards Rule, HIPAA Security Rule, State cybersecurity and data breach notification laws, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, SOC 2 Type II audits, PCI-DSS
Experience with incident response, crisis management, and cybersecurity investigations
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on time-sensitive matters
Highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
Strong critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills
