Lead/StaffDUOS is a consumer-focused healthcare company on a mission to reimagine freedom at any age. The Principal Data Engineer will own DUOS’ entire data foundation, building pipelines, models, and AI-driven tools to ensure that teams can access clean and trustworthy data at scale.

Responsibilities
Design and own DUOS' data architecture on AWS, ensuring scalable, maintainable infrastructure for all data operations
Build robust, automated pipelines for client file ingestion, normalization, deduping, and enrichment
Architect scalable ingestion into Salesforce, Iterable, or other operational systems
Implement versioned, testable, observable data transformations and modeling layers
Write and maintain production-quality code that integrates with DUOS’ existing engineering pipelines and CI/CD workflows
Own the full software development lifecycle for data platform components: design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance
Ensure all code meets engineering standards for readability, maintainability, documentation, and test coverage
Contribute to and follow shared coding standards, code review processes, and version control practices
Build reusable libraries, modules, and frameworks that other engineers can extend and maintain
Build AI-driven tools enabling natural-language querying, automated insights, metadata discovery, and semantic layer navigation
Define and maintain DUOS’ metrics layer enabling self-serve dashboards and consistent KPI definitions
Evaluate and integrate modern AI analytics tools
Create reusable, well-documented data models powering all dashboards and operational reporting
Ensure consistent, durable logic for funnels, cohorting, attribution, ROI calculations, provider/member analytics, etc
Serve as the architectural owner of 'source of truth' data assets
Own data flows into and out of client systems, marketing systems, Salesforce, and product pipelines
Partner with Engineering to ensure product features are instrumented correctly
Partner with Ops to ensure operational workflows are accurately captured and measurable
Implement systematic validation, schema monitoring, anomaly detection, and SLAs for critical data assets
Resolve upstream data issues proactively and improve reliability across ingestion paths
Define standards for naming, modeling, versioning, and documentation
Set the long-term vision for DUOS’ analytics platform and data architecture
Mentor data analysts, engineers, and cross-functional teams on best practices in analytics engineering, AI-enabled analytics, and data governance
Lead multi-quarter initiatives transforming DUOS into a mature, scalable data organization
Qualification
Required
Proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language (Python, Java, Go, or Scala) with demonstrated ability to write production-quality, maintainable code - not just ad-hoc scripts
Experience working within established engineering codebases, including familiarity with version control (Git), code review workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing
Ability to design and implement modular, well-structured code that other engineers can read, maintain, and extend
Understanding of software engineering best practices: clean code principles, appropriate abstraction, error handling, logging, and documentation
Expert-level SQL (Athena and PostgreSQL), data modeling, and analytics engineering
Deep experience building data pipelines on AWS
Strong understanding of analytics tools and semantic layer design
Experience building or integrating AI-driven analytics tools
Ability to design complex ingestion workflows with multiple external data sources (Salesforce, Iterable, AWS, etc.)
High autonomy, strong architectural judgment, and ability to own company-critical systems end-to-end
Track record of delivering production systems that are robust, observable, and maintainable over time
