Responsibilities

Provide senior-level oversight of organization-wide financial activity to ensure adherence to GAAP, federal regulations, donor requirements, and internal policies
Review and oversee accounting, project-based financial activity, and expenditure approvals to ensure accuracy, allowability, and alignment with approved budgets
Maintain strong internal controls over payments, vendor activity, and employee reimbursements
Partner with internal stakeholders to support accurate, timely reporting across a diverse funding portfolio
Serve as a key contributor during external audits, reviews, and compliance examinations
Oversee purchasing and vendor-related processes to ensure transparency, consistency, and regulatory compliance
Maintain and evolve policies that support competitive sourcing and responsible use of organizational resources
Monitor vendor relationships and spending patterns to identify efficiencies and mitigate risk
Provide leadership with practical insights related to cost management and sourcing decisions
Produce clear, reliable financial and operational reporting to support leadership decision-making
Leverage established analytical tools and emerging technologies to strengthen forecasting and planning
Support senior leadership with scenario analysis, modeling, and ad hoc financial insights
Lead and support initiatives focused on process discipline, automation, and systems optimization
Collaborate with technology and operations partners on financial system enhancements
Identify opportunities to modernize financial practices while maintaining regulatory rigor
Lead, coach, and develop a multi-functional finance team with an emphasis on accountability and service
Set priorities and expectations to ensure consistent performance during peak reporting cycles
Promote a culture grounded in accuracy, compliance, and institutional knowledge
Oversee training related to financial policies, procedures, and systems

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Min of 5 years in a leadership role/ including direct people management
exposure to federal funding/ compliance with GAAP, 2 CFR 200 (Uniform Guidance)
Nonprofit/International Development
Extensive progressive experience in GAAP-based accounting or audit
8+ Years as a controller or assistant controller
Demonstrated record of tenure and advancement within prior organizations
