7+ years expCall Quest Solution is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Level 3) to support their client onsite in Houston. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing large-scale, highly reliable data pipelines and Lakehouse architectures while leading architectural decisions across various data engineering processes.

Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain ELT pipelines across Bronze → Silver → Gold layers
Implement incremental loads, CDC, merge/upsert, and idempotent pipelines
Define and apply data architecture patterns (layered lakehouse, domain datasets, semantic models)
Engineer physical data designs, including partitioning strategies, partition key selection, clustering, and compaction
Develop curated datasets and data marts for analytics and self-service BI
Implement data quality, observability, lineage, SLAs, monitoring, and alerting
Optimize performance on cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake compute sizing, query tuning)
Design and manage Lakehouse table formats (Apache Iceberg / Delta / Hudi) with schema evolution
Collaborate with Data Architects, Analytics Engineers, and business stakeholders
Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews
Automate pipelines using CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code, applying DevOps best practices
Qualification
Required
7–10+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering (data-focused)
Expert-level SQL development and query optimization
Strong Python engineering skills (beyond scripting), including unit testing, refactoring, and SOLID principles
Hands-on experience with ELT/ETL pipelines and orchestration tools (Astronomer/Airflow)
Deep understanding of data modeling (dimensional models, SCDs)
Proven experience with database physical design, partitioning strategies, and partition key selection
Experience with data quality frameworks, monitoring, and operational SLAs
Experience with Lakehouse architectures and columnar storage (Parquet)
Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
Preferred
Snowflake optimization (tasks, streams, clustering, micro-partitioning)
Experience with DBT or similar transformation/testing tools
Event streaming (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink)
API-based data integrations
Experience with data catalog, governance, and lineage platforms
