Responsibilities

Perform a variety of engineering assignments in work measurement for the establishment of standards
Conduct analytical studies on engineering proposals to develop and detail processes for product manufacture
Develop cost estimates
Develop and issue production routings to manufacture products to the specifications and standards established by the Engineering groups
Determine feasibility and method to manufacture new products, whether in-house or from outside source, and estimate cost based on various manufacturing methods
Determine method of manufacturing which will result in production of product as it was designed
Confer with Manufacturing and Project Engineer and/or corresponding production personnel to determine the method of manufacturing products in the most efficient manner versus cost of production, machine capability, machine availability, and skill availability
Confer with Quality Control to ensure method of manufacturing will result in product consistent with customer and internal quality requirements
Generate, maintain, and assist in the preparation of product structures, production routings, product BOM, and part information including approvals, equivalent part numbers and cost information in the manufacturing databases
Edit work order routings to assure work centers, rates, operation codes, and manufacturing sequence is correct and complies with approved methods before release to production
Investigate, update and/or create production routings to reflect cost saving method of manufacturing
Review and approve changes to drawings, specifications, and other engineering documents, and apply the changes to the product structures and manufacture process documentation
Review and evaluate inefficiencies and inconsistencies in actual production methods compared to the planned methods and analyze potential long-term solutions to minimize variation in a cost-effective manner. Update or create routings to reflect cost savings methods of manufacturing
Assist Manufacturing Engineers to determine production machine rates and standards for inclusion in product structures
Interact with Project Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales department, and the vendors as needed in the performance of assigned duties
Assist others, both within and outside of the assigned product group, and perform other related duties as assigned or requested
Participate in ABS Workshops and Kaizen events both within the assigned product group, and in other product groups
Participate in proactive team effort to achieve departmental and company goals
Provide leadership to others through example and the sharing of knowledge/skill
Comply with all safety policies, procedures and practices as it relates to office/production working environments i.e. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when entering production environment
Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a primarily technical nature

Required

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
1+ years of experience in manufacturing and/or engineering
Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant's ability to lawfully obtain access to such items
Must be able to work on site full time in Torrance, California

Preferred

2+ years of experience in high volume manufacturing
Familiarity with fastener manufacturing
Strong proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and related computer skills
Advanced skills in MS Excel & Project, able to create pivot tables or macros, and analyze data
Must be able to read blueprints, and understand basics of measurement techniques and tools
Exceptional written/oral communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple large projects and interact with all organization levels
Experience with using systems such as QAD, AS 400, or other MRP system desirable
Proficient in the use of computer aided design/drafting software (SolidWorks and AutoCAD)
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and government regulations
