Michigan State University is seeking a Data Resource Analyst to support the divisions of Residential & Hospitality Services and Student Affairs. Responsibilities

Managing the full lifecycle of assessment instruments, from design and data collection to analysis and reporting
Conduct targeted data mining and analysis of sources such as student information systems to assess student success
Present and share data, research, data analytics, survey, and process improvement results to leadership
Assist with surveys, research, data analytics, and process improvement requests for their unit
Share information and assist with projects and process improvements within the Lean Enterprise Assessment team
Facilitate focus groups, conduct/compile survey results and data analytics, and assist with process improvements

Required

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work, such as a Master's in Educational Administration, Statistics, Economics or Research Methodology
Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research design, statistical methods and knowledge of computer hardware and software (e.g., SPSS, PowerBI, Tableau, PowerApps, Stata, Python, R, SAS, NVivo)
An equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of sophisticated personal computer terminology and operations
Ability to use e-mail and the Internet
Resume, cover letter, and three (3) professional references

Preferred

Strong experience in dashboard design and visual storytelling to make data actionable
Ability to design and implement automated workflows
Proficiency in industry-standard statistical programs (e.g., SPSS, SAS, or JMP)
Proven experience applying both qualitative and quantitative research methods
A strong understanding of the assessment cycle, including creating measurable outcomes, selecting appropriate methodologies, and closing the loop on results
A foundational understanding of Lean principles and continuous improvement mindsets to ensure data collection aligns with process-improvement goals
