Responsibilities
Processes specimens for the diagnosis and treatment of patients
Performs clerical duties including registration, collection and review of billing information, data entry, ordering tests, diagnosis entry, retrieval and distribution of results
Maintains records and statistical data according to regulatory requirements
Teaches new employees and students laboratory policies and procedures
Assists as needed in all laboratory areas as required to maintain appropriate patient care
Qualification
Required
High School graduate or high school equivalency
Must possess current card from the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS) or Red Cross BLS for healthcare providers within 3 months of hire
Preferred
Phlebotomy experience preferred
Laboratory Information/Data Entry experience preferred but not required
Medical Terminology and diagnosis coding experience preferred but not required
Certificate as PBT (ASCP) preferred
