Responsibilities

Join the growing Tax Controversy Team in our Business Tax practice group
Manage multiple matters and communicate effectively with clients
Demonstrate interest and/or experience in federal tax controversy practice, including IRS administrative dispute resolution, IRS examinations, IRS Appeals programs, and tax litigation
Display an interest in a client-centered practice and contribute as a member of the Tax & ERISA team

Required

At least 1-5 years of experience in tax law (class of 2024 – class of 2020)
Demonstrated interest and/or experience in federal tax controversy practice
Experience with IRS administrative dispute resolution
Experience with IRS examinations
Experience with IRS Appeals programs
Experience with tax litigation
Experience and/or an interest in renewable energy tax credits
Strong academic background
Outstanding research, drafting and analytical skills
Excellent writing ability
Detail-oriented
Ability to demonstrate leadership and initiative
Ability to manage multiple matters
Effective communication skills with clients
Interest in a client-centered practice
Ability to be a contributing member within a team of lawyers

Preferred

Prior experience at the Internal Revenue Service or Department of Justice's Tax Division
Judicial clerkship
LL.M. in Taxation
District of Columbia bar membership (required within one year of commencing employment)
