Senior LevelFishbowl is an industry leading supplier of manufacturing and warehouse management software. They are seeking a Senior Production MySQL Database Engineer to own and operate their database layer, making architectural decisions and supporting the system in production across multiple data centers.

Responsibilities
Design, deploy, and operate a production MySQL Galera environment across multiple data centers
Own ProxySQL configuration, routing logic, and failover behavior at scale
Implement and manage global data locality and writable instance selection per tenant
Ensure replication health within clusters, across clusters, and across data centers
Define backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies and test them regularly
Tune MySQL for high concurrency, low latency, and predictable performance
Build tooling and automation for monitoring, alerting, failover, and routine operations
Troubleshoot complex production issues involving replication, consistency, latency, and failover
Partner with infrastructure engineers on network design, storage, orchestration, and observability
Establish operational standards, runbooks, and on call procedures for the database layer
Qualification
Required
Deep hands on experience running MySQL in production at scale
Strong practical knowledge of MySQL Galera, including failure modes and recovery
Experience operating ProxySQL in front of high traffic application fleets
Proven ability to manage multi data center replication and active active traffic patterns
Comfort being the sole owner of a critical production system
Strong debugging skills across MySQL, networking, and application interaction layers
Experience working with containerized backends and modern infrastructure stacks
Ability to design systems, not just maintain them
