Confidential company is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations. The role involves managing financial reporting, internal controls, and inventory management while collaborating with senior leadership to ensure financial integrity and drive process improvements.

Responsibilities

Oversee full-cycle accounting - general ledger, journal entries, month-end/quarter-end/year-end close, and reconciliations

Manage financial reporting: prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; support external audits and internal reviews

Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights to management

Lead inventory accounting: track inventory levels, perform periodic valuations, reconcile inventory records, and ensure accurate inventory costing

Manage work-in-progress (WIP) accounting - oversee WIP tracking, cost allocations, and ensure proper capitalization and cost accounting for WIP projects

Perform detailed financial data analysis: trend analysis, cost-of-goods-sold (COGS) analysis, margin analysis, and other key metrics to support business operations

Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations

Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to accounting/finance team; supervise staff, delegate tasks, and ensure deadlines are met

Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, procurement, supply chain, and other departments to support business operations and strategic planning

Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and enhanced financial discipline across the organization

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or Master's / advanced degree a plus

CPA, CMA, or equivalent accounting certification preferred (or strong progress toward)

Proven experience as a Corporate Controller, Senior Controller, or similar senior accounting/finance leadership role

7-10+ years of experience in inventory management accounting and work-in-progress (WIP) accounting - especially in a company handling physical inventory

Strong financial data analysis skills, including cost-analysis, margin analysis, and variance analysis

Deep knowledge of GAAP / accounting standards and financial reporting requirements

Excellent familiarity with ERP / accounting systems and advanced skills in financial software and spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), and ideally experience with relevant ERP modules (inventory, WIP, etc.)

Strong leadership, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a team under deadlines

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally with operations, procurement, and management

Willingness to travel between regional offices in the Tampa Bay area on a routine basis to oversee financial staff, training, etc
