Accounts Payable Specialist - Luxury Travel/Tour Operator

Classic Journeys operates the world’s finest walking tours and is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to manage accounts payable functions for assigned tour regions. The role involves reviewing contracts, processing vendor payments, and collaborating with the management team to reconcile expenses and track budgets.

Responsibilities

Manage A/P functions for assigned tour regions
Review contracts for understanding and to verify vendor activity and transactions
Review received invoices and compare against contracts and other documentation
Process and record vendor payments following internal procedures and approval processes
Work closely with our company Controller and management team to reconcile tour expenses and track tour budgets
Prepare and ensure accuracy of expense sheets as directed by schedule, itinerary, and contracts
Communicate with our tour operations team to review expense sheets
Communicate with external vendors to research and resolve any discrepancies
Ensure all payments are made in a timely manner and follow up as necessary
Support the preparation of budgets and financial reports
Partner with internal departments to ensure professionalism and high-touch customer service
Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Advanced Excel SkillsAccounting degreeQuickBooks experienceBookkeeping experienceMicrosoft Office SuiteSalesforce experienceProfessionalismAccountabilityDetail-orientedRemote team collaboration

Required

2-year Accounting degree or 4-year bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or equivalent field
Advanced Excel Skills (Lookup Functions, Nested Logic Statements, Pivot Tables)
Bookkeeping or Expense-Coding experience
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams
Must be exceptionally detailed oriented
Strong ability to work well in a work-from-home, remote team environment
Possess a very high degree of discretion, professionalism, and accountability

Preferred

Experience with QuickBooks a plus, but not required
Salesforce experience a plus
