Responsibilities
Operate waste and recycling collection equipment on and off the Air Operations Area (AOA)
Collect waste and recycling materials throughout airport facilities
Inspect, maintain, repair, and refurbish waste containers, compactors, and related equipment
Conduct field observations of waste and recycling container contents
Read and interpret data from waste containers and compactors; report deficiencies and equipment issues
Communicate with airport tenants, contractors, and internal departments to coordinate services
Prepare routine maintenance, inspection, and billing reports
Direct and assist third-party contractors to expedite equipment repairs
Monitor compactor sites for vandalism, tampering, or security concerns and report suspicious activity
Perform inspections to ensure compliance with DFW waste, recycling, safety, and environmental policies
Educate tenants and staff on sustainable waste and recycling practices
Participate in environmental outreach programs, emergency response, special events, and winter weather operations
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally
Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in inclement weather and waste-handling environments
Ability to operate powered and mobile waste collection equipment
Ability to maintain and repair industrial air and hydraulic systems
Proficiency with manual and powered tools
Ability to read, write, and prepare routine reports
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Ability to use computers and standard software applications
Ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations (fractions, decimals, percentages)
Knowledge of proper lifting techniques and workplace safety practices
Ability to drive across airport property
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Class C Driver's License
Clean driving record with no Class B misdemeanor in the last 10 years and no offense greater than Class B
Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening, medical, and physical examination
Must obtain and maintain a TSA-required SIDA Airport Badge within 30 days of employment
Position is DOT and Airport-designated safety-sensitive; subject to random drug and alcohol testing
Classified as an Essential Employee; must report during emergencies and inclement weather
Must complete required airport and AOA vehicle operation training within 30 days
Preferred
Knowledge of waste collection equipment operations and maintenance
Understanding of equipment safety hazards and preventive maintenance
Experience working in industrial, maintenance, or environmental services environments
