Research Technician II - Ophthalmology

Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is seeking a Research Technician II to assist with technical aspects of studies and experiments in the Rajagopal Lab. The role involves conducting research on retinal metabolism, diabetes, and blinding illnesses, including data collection and lab maintenance.

Responsibilities

Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment
Performs biochemical assays using mouse and human retinal tissue, maintains mouse colonies with specific genetic modifications, and keeps logs of inventories
Performs data entry, organize, and maintains required data files on research
Prepares tissue cultures, reagents, probe tests, etc
Complies with established safety procedures, compliance requirements, and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions
Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures
Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree or combination of education and/or experience may substitute for minimum education

Preferred

The ideal candidate will have up to one year of experience in a laboratory setting
Individuals with experience in one or more of the following techniques: western blotting, quantitative PCR, immunofluorescence imaging, cell culture, mouse colony management and husbandry
