Responsibilities

Concepting, planning and developing basal instructional materials, both digital and print, for Social Studies courses for grades 6-12, including but not limited to textbooks, interactive activities, videos, worksheets, assessments, and teacher lesson plans
Researching curriculum requirements, state standards, and program content; developing program scope and sequence, working with writers and reviewers to prepare manuscript, ensuring accuracy, readability, and grade-appropriateness in accordance with project specifications
Coordinating and overseeing the work of outside freelancers or suppliers
Editing, tracking, and reviewing manuscript, composed pages and digital products throughout development cycle
Correlating educational materials to social studies curriculum standards and frameworks
Working in content management systems to assemble and produce educational content
Communicating with fellow team members and cross-functional teams about project progress and developing solutions to address issues
Working as a team player to meet all milestone dates and deliverable requirements

Qualification

Social Studies Content KnowledgeEditorial ExperienceMicrosoft Office ProficiencyDigital Curriculum DevelopmentCommunication SkillsOrganizational SkillsTeam Collaboration

Required

Bachelor's degree, Master's degree or higher, preferably with content knowledge in a major social studies field: US History, World History, World Geography, Economics, Ethnic Studies, or Political Science (Government/Civics)
A minimum of 24 months of editorial or educational publishing experience; experience writing and editing instructional materials for use in secondary social studies classrooms or classroom teaching experience, preferably in 6-12 social studies courses
Excellent communication skills which include a thorough command of the English language, spelling, writing, and grammar
Must be organized, detail- and deadline-oriented and able to prioritize and manage multiple projects
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), Adobe Acrobat; experience writing/editing in Adobe InCopy/ InDesign
Experience working with digital curriculum development, digital authoring tools, and content management systems
Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced rapidly changing work environment
