Transmission Line Engineer

Our Client is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to apply and expand knowledge of transmission line engineering. The role involves designing overhead transmission lines, conducting cost analyses, and collaborating with clients and project teams.

Responsibilities

Designing overhead transmission lines in the 69 kV to 500 kV range
Performing cost analyses, developing design criteria, and routing and siting transmission lines
Conducting conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies
Working with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components
Directing a small project team of engineers/designers
Collaborate with experienced engineers and mentor less experienced staff
Work with a diverse client base and coordinate with multiple project teams
Travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings
Assist in developing proposals and cost estimates for new projects

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program or CEAB (or another equivalent recognized accreditation)
Proficiency with PLS‑CADD software and the ability to review and develop transmission line models
7+ years of experience on transmission line projects, including:
Transmission line design incorporating applicable codes and standards
Cost estimate development and schedule creation/coordination
Preparation of specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and construction
Liaison with construction and installation teams
Ability to verify and review right‑of‑way requirements, conductor sags and tensions, plan and profile drawings, and construction documents
Strong knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, drawings, and models
Experience in preparing engineering calculations and supporting documentation
Familiarity with relevant design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318
Proficiency with MS Office applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail

Preferred

Current Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain one within one year
Experience developing engineering proposals and cost estimates
Experience with project scheduling
Proficiency with one or more of the following tools: PLS‑TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, MicroStation
