Responsibilities
Create engineering calculations, construction drawings, detail sheets, and review/edit project specifications with attention to current building design codes
Research and apply building codes and regulations to designs
Lead or support site visits to document existing conditions and translate findings into plans and details and perform construction site visits
Conduct structural field assessments of existing structural systems for building expansions and retrofit projects
Aid in reviewing shop drawings, construction work, and materials for conformance with project specifications and perform any additional construction administration tasks
Communicate and coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and government officials throughout project phases
Review and respond to contractor inquiries and field issues efficiently
Contribute to permitting processes by addressing reviewer comments
Apply knowledge of construction types and techniques to new and retrofit projects
Provide general support to the structural team on day-to-day project tasks
Report directly to the Project Leader or Senior Structural Engineer
Qualification
Required
A Professional Engineer (PE), who has been registered for 2-4 years, and is working in the field of Structural Engineering
Must have experience in the design of Structural Steel, Masonry, Concrete, Light Gauge Metal Design and Wood
Experience managing a team of engineers on various projects
Capable of managing multiple projects in varying stages of design, and construction
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a project team and communicate clearly with clients, and all disciplines of the project design team
Experience with creating and reviewing project construction documents utilizing, AutoCAD, or Revit
Experience with MS Office software, and structural design software such as Enercalc, and RISA
Preferred
Candidates who have passed the SE exam and hold an SE license are preferred
Any design experience in Post Tension or Mass Timber Design is a benefit
