Responsibilities

Processing and validating anadromous fish monitoring data
Reviewing video monitoring footage using Salmonsoft
Assisting with environmental DNA sample collection
Performing quality control on species counts
Managing HOBO logger datasets
Contributing to synthesizing multi‑year monitoring results
Communicating with partners
Supporting the development of strategies for future statewide monitoring improvements

Qualification

BiologyEnvironmental MonitoringData ManagementSalmonsoftHOBOWareR ProgrammingFirst AidCPRPublic InteractionCommunication Skills

Required

High school diploma or GED and 6 months of related experience
Experience operating various types of equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Must be able to obtain related licenses or certifications as required. (e.g. Driver's License, First Aid, CPR)

Preferred

Coursework or experience in Biology, Conservation, Environmental Studies, Marine Science, Fisheries, or a related field
Experience with data management, quality control, and/or environmental monitoring
Familiarity with R or other programming languages used in ecological data analysis
Familiarity with Salmonsoft and/or HOBOWare software
Understanding of freshwater or anadromous fish ecology, fish passage, and river systems
Experience with scientific data entry, video review, or lab‑based workflows
Ability to communicate clearly with cross‑disciplinary partners, researchers, and nonprofit groups
Interest in developing professional skills in restoration science, fisheries monitoring, or conservation planning
Multi‑lingual or cross‑cultural experience appreciated
Ability to interact with the public in a friendly, professional manner
