Responsibilities

Assist in research and development regarding design of aircraft engines, engine components, advanced combustion and fuel injection systems
Full cycle PCB design including collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and integration with the system
Conduct integration and developmental testing of complex electrical and engine subsystems interactions
Develop system interconnect diagrams and define wire harnesses that connect electronic equipment
Vendor surveys and evaluation to support sourcing for engine system components
Conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews
Build up and test of engine system components through lab, ground, and flight tests
Root cause analysis in support of field operations

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs
Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current-probes, and automation of tests
Experience with DFM/DFT designs
Familiarity with standard interfaces such as CAN, I2C, SPI, etc
Familiarity with common electromechanical components such as electric motors, solenoids, thermocouples, RTDs, and their specific interfacing needs
Knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics and electronic circuits
Comfortable with a variety of electronic CAD tools (Altium preferred, Eagle and others acceptable)
Experience in design for signal integrity / power integrity
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Preferred

Understanding of DO-254, DO-178C, DO-160 and relevant avionics design standards for UAS
Familiarity with aircraft avionics and harnessing component suppliers from past experience in UAS programs
Knowledge and experience working with Engine Management Systems (EMS), OEM or motorsport
EMI based design for military applications - MIL-STD-461/464
