The University of Miami is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Associate to work at the UHealth campus. This role involves conducting scientific research, preparing reports, and contributing to a neuroscience research program focused on mechanisms relevant to brain function and neurological disease.

Responsibilities

Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned
Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing
Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories
Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories
Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
Conceptualize, design, and conduct experiments investigating neuronal signaling, synaptic function, RNA localization, molecular pathways, or related neurobiological mechanisms
Develop, refine, and troubleshoot assays involving neuronal cultures, rodent brain tissue, cell‑based models, or other systems aligned with laboratory research objectives
Apply multi‑modal analytical approaches—such as molecular profiling, imaging, or functional assays—to generate mechanistic insights that advance the team’s scientific goals
Perform specialized molecular and cellular neuroscience techniques, including but not limited to nucleic acid and protein assays, neuronal imaging, synaptic structure analysis, and advanced histological or biochemical workflows
Implement new methodological approaches that enhance the laboratory’s capability to study complex neurobiological processes
Maintain rigor, reproducibility, and adherence to best scientific practices in experimental execution
Prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals, including drafting figures, methods, and results sections
Present research findings in internal meetings and at national or international scientific conferences
Support the development of preliminary data and documentation for grant proposals and competitive funding mechanisms
Mentor students and junior research personnel in experimental techniques, data analysis, and scientific reasoning
Assist with laboratory organization, equipment oversight, safety compliance, and maintenance of research protocols
Contribute to a collaborative, high‑performance research environment, supporting cross‑functional project needs within the team

Required

Doctorate degree Medicine (MD) required
PhD in Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Biomedical Science, or a closely related discipline with doctoral‑level training in molecular, cellular, or systems neuroscience
