Attorney
The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (PRC) is responsible for regulating public utilities. The Attorney position is responsible for providing legal counsel to the Utility Division and other divisions, as well as advising the Commission in non-contested matters.
Responsibilities
Providing legal counsel to the Utility Division and other divisions
Advising the Commission and other divisions on legal issues outside of contested proceedings
Provision of legal services to the Utility Division in docketed proceedings before the Commission
Representing the Utility Division in matters before the PRC
Providing legal services to other divisions and to the Agency in non-contested matters
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law
Must be licensed as an attorney by the Supreme Court of New Mexico or qualified to apply for limited practice license
All Attorney classifications must be and remain licensed as an attorney, in good standing, by the Supreme Court of New Mexico, or licensed as an attorney and in good standing by the highest court of another state and eligible pursuant to the limited license provisions
Experience with regulatory law
Strong legal research and writing abilities
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Background in civil and/or criminal litigation, including experience in court, presenting, defending and cross examining witnesses both lay and expert
Preferred
Experience in utility regulation
Experience with case management and balancing priorities, including timely and effectively meeting deadlines
