Responsibilities
Adhere to the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing
Log, distribute, and track patient samples from processing areas to testing departments
Process and prepare various specimen types (e.g., whole blood, serum/plasma, dried blood, urine, saliva) prior to the analytical phase
Load samples onto automated analyzers as required
Perform and document routine maintenance on laboratory instruments and small equipment (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)
Ensure proper labeling of reagents, calibrators, and quality control materials
Dispose of specimens and materials following safety and SOP guidelines
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace in compliance with laboratory safety requirements
Assist with monitoring and maintaining supply levels and inventory for the pre-analytical process
Properly store and exit-scan samples in accordance with SOPs
Ensure all documentation meets laboratory and regulatory standards
Participate in daily team huddles and communicate effectively with other laboratory personnel
Support the Accessioning department as needed
Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and recommend enhancements to the General Supervisor
Report any potential hazards or safety concerns promptly
Perform other tasks as assigned by the General Supervisor or licensed Clinical Laboratory Scientist
Qualification
Required
Minimum of a High School Diploma (required)
Ability to follow precise procedures and maintain accuracy under supervision
Strong organizational and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented laboratory environment
Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and safety standards
