Responsibilities

Plan and conduct small-group literacy workshops for K-2 learners, making phonics instruction enjoyable, interactive, and tailored to individual needs
Modify teaching approaches on the fly in response to student readiness, group proficiency levels, and engagement signals
Facilitate motivational sessions with students to promote progress in adaptive literacy platforms and support achievement of reading objectives
Track student performance metrics from adaptive technology and apply insights to customize instruction for each group
Employ storytelling, humor, gaming metaphors, and encouragement to sustain student effort and address reluctance

Required

Available to work on-site at NextGen Academy in Austin, TX
Bachelor's degree in elementary education, reading, or a related discipline
Certification in structured literacy methods such as Orton-Gillingham, Wilson Reading System, or comparable evidence-based phonics curricula
2+ years of experience providing small-group reading instruction to K-2 students or learners with reading difficulties
Proven capacity to evaluate student reading levels and develop differentiated lessons autonomously
Genuine interest in video games and gaming culture, regardless of personal gaming experience
Authorized to work in the United States without need for visa sponsorship
