The role involves developing enterprise-wide solutions, ensuring operational excellence, and managing workflows across multiple service areas while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
Responsible for strategic design, implementation management, and governance of UVMH systems and operations of multiple middle revenue cycle functions, including Health Information Management (HIM) Operations, Hospital Coding, Professional Coding, Identity/Data Integrity, ROI (internal and vendor), the Tumor Registry (outsourced) and Transcription Services (outsourced) teams across UVMH
Responsible for setting the strategic plan for both operations and systems, developing, and implementing enterprise-wide solutions, ensuring operational standardization, optimization and excellence
Ensure the UVMH objectives in finance, patient care, medical record management, coding and patient experience are achieved
Develop and manage efficient and effective workflows, achieve financial and operational targets and direct complex business processes across multiple service areas, campuses, locations, and hours of operation
Establish system and organizational goals and objectives, developing and implementing improvements in a collaborative, cost effective and efficient manner
Ensure UVMH and department practice operations are compliant with state and federal regulations, performance quality is best practice and overall information system structures effectively support financial and clinical needs
Oversee the HIM teams across UVMH, including sites in Vermont and New York
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Finance, Business Administration, Health Care Services or Computer Science
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) required
Must have at least 10 years of progressively responsible management experience in a health care setting
Minimum of 7 years management experience required
Epic experience is required
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
Management experience in revenue cycle operations and application strategy
Familiarity with organizational structure, operational challenges and mission of an academic medical center is desirable
Excellent track record for managing complex operational processes and systems integration in a complex health care environment is strongly preferred
Experience in business cycle redesign strongly recommended
