Landfill Depo & Leachate Technician
Augment Professional Services (APS) is seeking a Landfill Depo & Leachate Technician to support the operation and maintenance of landfill leachate collection systems and liquid waste depo injection systems. This role involves ensuring regulatory compliance and operational efficiency while partnering with Environmental Engineers and Operations Managers.

Responsibilities
Operate, monitor, and maintain landfill leachate collection, conveyance, and treatment systems, including: Leachate pumps, force mains, and gravity lines, Sumps, manholes, tanks, and wet wells, On-site storage and pretreatment systems
Perform routine inspections of leachate infrastructure to identify leaks, blockages, mechanical failures, and capacity constraints
Monitor leachate flow rates, pressure, and system performance to ensure continuous and compliant operation
Collect leachate samples for field testing and laboratory analysis in accordance with site permits and environmental regulations
Maintain accurate logs and operational records for leachate volumes, system run times, and maintenance activities
Operate and maintain depo injection systems specialized for the injection of liquid waste into landfills, including: Injection pumps, piping, and distribution manifolds, Injection wells, probes, or trench-based injection points, Flow control and pressure-regulation components
Conduct liquid waste unloading, transfer, and injection activities in accordance with site procedures and regulatory requirements
Verify waste profiles, manifests, and compatibility prior to injection into landfill cells
Monitor injection pressures, flow rates, and system integrity to prevent over-pressurization, leakage, or unintended releases
Perform system flushing, line purging, and preventative maintenance to maintain injection efficiency and equipment longevity
Operate and maintain chemical metering pumps used for leachate treatment, odor control, pH adjustment, and process optimization
Prepare, handle, and dose treatment chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS), site SOPs, and environmental permits
Calibrate chemical metering pumps and flow-control devices to ensure accurate dosing rates
Inspect and service chemical feed lines, tanks, and injection points to prevent clogging, corrosion, and equipment failure
Adjust chemical dosing based on leachate quality, system performance, and laboratory results
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on: Leachate pumps and motors, Depo injection pumps and piping, Chemical metering systems, Valves, controls, and instrumentation
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and process issues impacting leachate or injection system performance
Coordinate with maintenance teams, electricians, and instrumentation technicians to resolve complex system failures
Support emergency response activities related to spills, releases, or system upsets
Ensure all leachate handling, chemical dosing, and liquid waste injection activities comply with: Local, state, and federal environmental regulations, Landfill operating permits, Health and safety requirements
Participate in site safety meetings, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and environmental compliance audits
Maintain housekeeping standards around leachate, chemical, and injection system areas
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hazardous materials handling procedures
Qualification
Required
Hands-on experience with chemical metering pumps, depo injection systems, and landfill leachate infrastructure
Ability to operate, monitor, and maintain landfill leachate collection, conveyance, and treatment systems
Experience performing routine inspections of leachate infrastructure to identify leaks, blockages, mechanical failures, and capacity constraints
Ability to monitor leachate flow rates, pressure, and system performance
Experience collecting leachate samples for field testing and laboratory analysis
Ability to maintain accurate logs and operational records for leachate volumes, system run times, and maintenance activities
Experience operating and maintaining depo injection systems specialized for the injection of liquid waste into landfills
Ability to conduct liquid waste unloading, transfer, and injection activities
