Ophthalmic Scribe - Pediatric Eye Consultants of North Florida
Florida Pediatric Associates is seeking an Ophthalmic Scribe to join their busy practice. The role involves summarizing and documenting physician examinations, assisting with electronic health records, and ensuring effective patient communication during appointments.

Responsibilities
Correctly summarizes and documents what the physician says during an examination, including but not limited to: proper charting of the examination, documenting additions to the chief complaint, assessment and recommendations for treatment (including justification of decisions reached when appropriate)
Actively engages in EHR protocols/ templates, assisting physician in building appropriate templates and providing feedback in their use
Attends to exact language preferred by physician as it pertains to documentation. This may require reviewing previous charting/ documentation and making an effort to reproduce impression/ plans accurately and to the physician’s standards
Observes the patient and the physician and assists when appropriate during the exam or procedure, including but not limited to: holding the patient’s head in the slit lamp, assisting with fixation target, providing additional equipment/ instruments
Maintains an awareness of the patient’s verbal and non-verbal communication when the physician is providing instructions as it may necessitate the writer repeating information, providing written instructions, and/or patient education materials for the patient to review at home
Ensures patient understands all instructions
Remains as close to the physician as possible and limits time away from the physician and the patient
When applicable, prepares accurate eye glass or contact lens prescriptions and/or medication prescriptions for the eye physician’s signature prior to the completion of the examination
Alerts eye physician to patient-related forms that need completion
Guides patient to front desk or surgical scheduler after completion of exam and ensures proper follow-up appointments are made
Becomes fluent in the exact requirements of each examination, acceptable codes and charges
Serve as a brand representative for FPA by embracing the Company culture and mission statement, core values and standard of conduct
Strictly adhere to all Standards: Compliance Standards, Privacy and Security Standards, Workplace Standards, Workforce Standards
Strictly adhere to Department Policies and Procedures
Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement process
Participate in corporate compliance program
Promptly report suspected acts of non-compliance with Company Standards and Policies
Participate in job-related continuing education programs
Perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor or designee
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year experience as an ophthalmic scribe in an ophthalmology setting

Scribe certification is a plus
Preferred Minimum 1+ years working as a Ophthalmic Scribe in a medical practice preferred
