EPRI is seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as our Director of Impact Messaging. This role is responsible for shaping and amplifying EPRI’s public voice across media channels, driving high-impact storytelling, and ensuring our mission, research, and collaborations are clearly and compellingly communicated to external audiences.

Responsibilities

Hire and make staffing decisions for impact communications team, media team, and digital strategy team
Establish and meet business plan objectives and budgets
Champion the integration of AI across all communications workflows — from content creation and media monitoring to audience targeting and performance analytics — to drive innovation, efficiency, and strategic insight in how EPRI engages the world
Ensure a global perspective is embedded across all communications strategies and content — reflecting the diversity of EPRI’s stakeholders, collaborators, and impact across regions, cultures, and energy systems
Track and analyze performance metrics to refine strategy and demonstrate public impact
Engage with the Sector Research Portfolio Managers and leadership to ensure close collaboration and support of EPRI public benefit mission
Develop and lead a comprehensive media strategy (traditional and social) that elevates the organization’s visibility and thought leadership across national and global platforms
Serve as a spokesperson and support leadership and subject matter experts for interviews, panels, and public appearances
Develop and execute a cohesive brand strategy that elevates EPRI’s visibility, credibility, and impact across global energy, technology, and policy ecosystems
Ensure brand consistency across all external communications, digital platforms, media engagements, and stakeholder touchpoints
Partner with internal teams and external collaborators to align brand messaging with organizational priorities, research breakthroughs, and public impact
Monitor brand perception and media presence, using insights to refine positioning and proactively manage reputation
Lead creative direction and visual identity standards to ensure a modern, accessible, and mission-aligned brand experience
Ensure message consistency across all external communications, including digital, print, and live engagements
Lead the strategy for the development of high-impact campaigns that translate technical research and innovation into compelling public narratives

Support 'one EPRI' through communications and marketing initiatives and identifying strategic venues for messaging
Champion the use of immersive and interactive content formats — including motion graphics, short-form video, data visualizations, and AI-generated media — to engage diverse audiences
Pilot innovative storytelling tools such as dynamic reports, real-time dashboards, and interactive graphics to showcase impact and research outcomes
Monitor digital trends and audience behaviors to continuously refine content strategy and platform mix for maximum reach and relevance

Required

Bachelor of Science, Communications, Marketing, Business, Advertising, or other related degree
Minimum of 10 years of experience working in an energy related field, preferably related to communications and marketing associated with the generation, delivery and use of energy or electric power
Minimum of 5 years of senior level management experience in a complex environment with international customers
