Research Coordinator I - Pediatrics - Nutrition (Part-time)

Responsibilities

Attend and successfully complete BCM-certified training on HIPAA, human subject research, and consent procedures
Assist with data collection for an obesity prevention program involving Hispanic families, including data entry. Data collection may involve measuring participants’ height, weight, cholesterol, blood pressure, HbA1c, waist circumference, conducting 24-hour dietary recalls, and administering survey questionnaires
Assist with data collection activities in participants' homes
Schedule qualified participants and support data collection activities in laboratory observations, community studies, and in-home visits
Provide childcare support during data collection sessions when needed
Help enter, monitor, maintain, verify, and update participant data in Access, Excel, and REDCap database systems
Maintain records of data collection, including screening logs, demographic files, clinic visits, and game play
Provide the Project Manager and Principal Investigator with reports on study progress, data forms, data collection, intervention implementation, and participant contacts, as requested
Attend project staff meetings
Assist with interview transcription and translation, and basic activity monitor tasks
Support administrative duties such as audit preparation, preparing study reports, and organizing and creating participant files
Adhere to Behavioral Nutrition Group and study guidelines, policies, and procedures
Assist with home visits in the afternoon/evenings and weekends
Assist in the Metabilic Research Unit with protocol procedures and data collection tasks
Performs other job duties as assigned

Required

High School diploma or GED
Three years of relevant experience

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in a related field. No experience required with preferred degree
Experience working with children
Must be highly motivated and comfortable with talking and interacting with children and adult participants
Able to measure basic anthropometrics and assist participants in completing surveys and questionnaires
Skilled at engaging children in various activities
Willing to conduct visits in participants' homes
Comfortable driving in the Greater Houston Area; access to a car is a plus
